There’s a stiffness in your mouth,
When you move your lips to speak.
You seem unconscious of the way
Your brows draw together.
Your movements seem more tense,
But most of all,
I see it in your eyes,
Those crystal lakes that tell all.
Those eyes that stare out
See the world differently now.
They are older.
You are older.
The way you hold yourself,
It’s slightly more crushed.
The weight of expectations
Has pushed down upon you.
The burden that you carry
Hunches your shoulders
And makes your feet drag.
You are uncomfortable in this situation.
You are not happy here.
I can tell as I stare back at you.
Life could have been better,
You think,
But we all go in the end.

I can't help but notice that your words often describe exactly how I feel when I read them.
